Coaching

Below you will find details of our training times.

Training

During our season (end of April to the end of July). Training takes place on Friday evenings from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Bank of England Sports Centre. Qualified coaching is provided for all age groups not playing matches on Friday nights. Team management is provided by volunteers.

Times. The first coaching session for the U10 to U15 will be held on Friday 29th April from 6.30-8.30pm. The U8/U9 age groups will start training the following week - Friday 6th May from 6.30-8.30pm. The sessions will continue on subsequent Fridays until 29th July 2011.

If it's raining, then we try and provide some indoor coaching. However, during the months of May, June and July, we do not have the indoor facilities for cricket coaching so cricket may have to be completely cancelled if it's too wet outside, and the sports hall is unavailable.

Assistance from parents. We always welcome assistance from parents on Friday evenings, whether to take a register or help out with the training. Any help with transporting players, scoring and umpiring on match days is also much appreciated.

Winter nets. There is a full indoor Winter nets training programme available over the course of the close season. These take place on Saturdays, and are run by the coaching staff in the Bank of England sports hall.
Timings for the 2011 Winter nets are: Saturday afternoons from 2.30 to 7pm in three sessions according to age group. Places need to be booked in advance.

Kit. All Colts must wear suitable games clothing, preferably cricket whites. Full cricket clothing will be required when representing the club in matches. We do have a number of bats, gloves, helmets, pads and wicket-keeping gloves. However, we encourage Colts to bring their own equipment with them - this should be clearly marked with their name on it.

Safety. Colts' safety is obviously of the utmost importance. We would encourage parents to buy a box for their son plus necessary support (again, these should be marked with the player's name). Helmets must always be worn when batting or wicket-keeping. First Aiders will be present on the grounds each Friday evening and during each home match.

Discipline. We comply with the Spirit of Cricket. The Colts Committee policy is to ensure proper standards of discipline, behaviour & sportsmanship on and off the field, as detailed in the Code of Conduct.
